E-tailers : good vibrations !

Fevad’s latest survey shows the optimism of e-tailers looking to expand internationally

The Fédération du e-commerce et de la vente à distance (Fevad) has published the results of its survey on the mood of French and European e-tailers, carried out with Toluna-Harris Interactive.

The survey reveals that French and European e-commerce players are in high spirits. “More optimistic than in 2024, e-tailers believe that their sector will grow in 2025. More than two out of three executives surveyed approach 2025 in a stable or positive frame of mind, with the proportion of those declaring themselves more optimistic than pessimistic clearly outweighing them” concludes Fevad.
Positive about the general situation, e-tailers are even more so about their personal situation : nearly 6 out of 10 of them expect their company’s sales to grow in 2025, a trend that is even more marked in France (64%).

Priority : go abroad !

When asked about their investment priorities, French e-commerce executives cite international expansion as their top priority (46%), ahead of cybersecurity, CSR and innovation. However, the quest for international growth is nothing new for these e-tailers, a large majority of whom (73%) already having an international presence.
E-commerce players don’t seem to be worried either by the fundamental trend towards consumerism. “While two-thirds of French e-tailers believe that the trend away from consumer goods is set to increase, just as many feel that their sales strategy is adapted to this phenomenon. In their opinion, the development of second-hand goods should continue. In fact, this is the first trend that French managers cite for 2025, closely followed by the rise of Asian sites,” Fevad points out.
